I am currently reading
The First Wives Club by Olivia Goldsmith which is taking me ages. Perhaps it is because I am too busy with my job and other things to read, or perhaps the characters are just too shallow and superficial. I have a huge pile of books to read too, and
VH was ordering some books on Amazon the other day, so I thought I'd order a couple too that I am curious about including
The Book Thief and
What Was Lost. It will probably take me a year to read all the books I have at my current rate, but when I see a book I want at a good price, I can't resist it. I have a lot of travelling for work next week, so perhaps I'll have the chance to make a small dent in my pile.
I was wondering how well read I am. Here is a Telegraph list of the top 100 books; I've read 26 of them completely. How many have you read? There are others that I have read quite a lot of like The Complete Works of Shakespeare, and The Bible;
others that I have seen an adaptation or film of but not read like Les Miserables, Lord of the Rings, Oliver Twist and Tess of the D'Ubervilles; and others I can't remember if I've read or not, like the Jane Austen books, The Hobbit and some of the children's books. Most of the books that I have read, I read ages ago, either as a child, or in depth through studying them at school, but I feel quite up-to-date with the modern 'classics' on this list.1 Pride and Prejudice - Jane Austen 2 The Lord of the Rings -
