Christmas on Carnaby Street
I now have a new favourite street in London: Carnaby Street. I can't believe I've never been down this street before. It is a really funky, hip little street with quirky off-beat shops. The Christmas decorations are up already, usually I would find this irritating with it only being early November; but these decorations with their message of love, peace and joy are forgiven. The decorations may be inflatable but they are not tacky like inflatable Santas. Well perhaps the pink reindeer are just ever so slightly tacky, but I love them all the same. If you're ever in London I would recommend that you take a walk down this fun street, and hopefully you will love it too.

Ah hippy daze....
ReplyDelete(wordveri - wacrod - ?? he was never really whacky...)
Goodness I've not been down there for years. One of my favourite stores has always been Liberty which is just in front of Carnaby Street and you can't really go to one without going to the other.
ReplyDeleteYou've made me homesick for London now :)
Frankofile- Yes, very hippy and no he isn't very wacky.
ReplyDeleteFrench Fancy - Sorry, and I thought seeing pictures would make you miss London less. I haven't heard of Liberty next time I go to Carnaby Street I'll look out for it.
Hi Veggie, first time here :)
ReplyDeleteI just love Carnaby Street. It is definetly one of my favourite streets in London. And French Fancy, totally agree with you. I've never been a big fan of selfridges. I am more a Liberty adict. Please, Veggie, go and check it out. From the building (the wood front doors are wonderful) to the clothes to the chocolates..oh it is all perfect in there.
Just one thing. I went to Carnaby Street today to check the xmas decoration. Did find a bit tacky. Remind me a gay parade to be honest.
I will try go again at nigh.
Nice post and hope you like Liberty.
Dani
Hi Dani,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment. Do you have a blog I can visit?
Hmm maybe Carnaby Street is better at night? I agree it is a bit tacky but I liked it despite that. It makes a change from a typical high street with the same shops everywhere.
I will definitely check out Liberty next time I vist, I don't know how I missed it. We went to Hamley's too and I could have spent hours in there.
