Bitter chill
I am finally on my long-awaited Christmas holidays, in Canada. It is very very cold, colder than I had ever imagined, and I don`t think my clothes are warm enough. I went outside earlier, walking around Montreal, and my knees and face hurt lots from the freezing (below freezing!) air. However, I did manage to have a nice warm sugar-cane flavoured coffee in town, at Second Cup. I was going to go out for a meal tonight in a veggie restaurant (serving coconut bacon!) but as it is so cold, and we couldn`t face the walk, we are staying in. Even Veggie Hubby is no longer used to this weather. I will put up some pictures of the snow tomorrow. There are lots of things we want to do here, but the weather is hampering us. It is -17 today, with a wind chill making it -29!

Yikes. H tells me that the weather news this morning was that it's colder than usual in Montréal. He tells me the coldest we've known is -15 in Norway.
ReplyDeleteIt's nippy here (the central heating pilot light is out and we await the plumber). But I'll stop shivering now!
And there's a foot of snow coming tomorrow. I'm fleeing to Quebec City today, then Chicoutimi (likely by bus) on Monday. Just to warn you, it's -29 today in Chicout, not counting the windchill.
ReplyDeleteWe are actually lucky now, as it is not too cold (still over the minus 20, not counting the wind, which is not blowing too strongly now). In Chicoutimi, it might be unbearable for Carrie, but I will make sure she covers up.
